Blow molding forms hollow plastic products by inflating a heated plastic tube (parison) inside a mold cavity.
Extrusion Molding Machinery:
Or Continuous Molding, Extrusion molding pushes molten plastic through a die to create continuous shapes with consistent cross-sections. This is one of the most cost-effective types of molding for products with long profiles.
Rotational Molding Machinery:
Also known as Roto molding, rotational molding involves heating and rotating a mold to form hollow parts. This process stands out among plastic molding types for its ability to create seamless parts without weld lines.
Compression Molding Machinery:
When applied to thermoplastic materials, compression molding is referred to as melt molding. A classic method among molding techniques, compression molding involves placing a pre-measured charge of material into an open mold, which is then closed and heated under pressure. This method is well-suited for creating large, thick, and structurally robust parts, often made from thermosets like epoxy, phenolic, and BMC (bulk molding compound).
Transfer Molding Machinery:
Transfer Molding incorporates a container above the mold where the rubber sits and gets pushed into the mold using a piston-powered (sometimes called a plunger) gate/runner/sprue system. The piece is then cured using heat and pressure. Transfer molding, like injection molding, will usually cost less per unit than compression molding since the rubber does not enter the mold cavity until after it closes and quantities are more exact.
